To be perfectly honest, I felt that this article was a joke when I first read it. It appeared to be an article that would have appeared hundreds of years ago, or in the middle east where you have your hand cut off if you are caught stealing. However, after reading the article, that was not the case. Senator Nick Gautreaux proposed that second time sex offenders would be offered the choice of either a physical castration, or a form of chemical castration. The chemical castration would be designed to reduce the male libido, if medical professionals agree that this would be an effective treatment. Gautreaux plans to bring this bill to the next meeting of the Senate to see if it will pass. Honestly, this is not something that I have thought much about, as I never thought it would be proposed as a punishment. I am not certain how I feel about this bill, as I don't know if it is an effective form of punishment. While it may reduce sex crimes, would the criminals revert to some other form of crime? The article itself was very short and only mentioned the bill but not the reasons why it was proposed. I feel it would have been a stronger article if all points of view and reasons for the bill proposal had been brought up.

This is a very interesting article. There are not many facts about it because it is such a new idea, but I like how the author wanted to tell the public about this even if he did not have much information.
This idea is a little out there in my opinion, but it is definately something that i would like to hear more about. Even though there is not much information in this article, the author got my attention and got me interested in this new idea.
Yeah right, like we are going to go as far as castrating someone. Why would he think that that would ever be passed? I'm not disagrreing with the man, but what's next? People who are caught sticking gum under desks will have their tounges cut off? This won't pass.
It is an interesting form of punishment, but I do not think it would ever get passed in America. I do think it is a good idea though. Those men would not be able to rape anyone else. It is possible that they may resort to other crimes, but at least they would know what it is like to be hurt like thier victims.
