In this article the author had some angry comments to say about a recent article in the Feb. 23 Metro. He was upset to see that in the previous article about a fatal hit and run the collumnist never once apologized or sent his sympathy out to the family of the victum. He sayed that the article ended with the victums past criminal history which was totally irrelevant to the story. I think theis article was not written to well due to bad language and inept factual information; however, i completely agree with the message he was trying to tell us. I completely agree that when a paper is covering a death they should always end the article with acts of sympathy to show their support for the family and freinds of the victum. I think it was really careless and unprofessional for the author of the initial article toleave out something so important.

It is always important to consider people's feelings when they're dealing with a loss like that. It is very impersonal to just sum up something like that with their past criminal history. I agree completely that it was very unprofessional to leave out a personal story.
I agree that it is very unprofessional to end such a tragic article without at least just saying you are sorry, or somewhat expressing it in your writing.
I don't think it is unprofessional not to say you are sorry if you are just reporting the story, but I would do it out of respect. What was unprofessional was, like you all said, bringing up the victims past when it was irrelevent. If the victim was the person who hit and ran, then i could understand putting his past in the article.
This article would have been more effective if it included a personal story instead of just ending and leaving some readers angry. This article seems like it was written by someone who doesn't know how to write too well.
The author of the original article was careless in not adding his sympathies; however, I do not see that as that wrong. I think the problem was the original author telling of the victim's past instead. That was careless, and I'm glad this author sent in his an article detailing his disappoints.
I think that is worong for someone to have written such an artcile about a fatal crash. I think the author should always send out sympathys to the victum's family. If he/she feels they can not do this then they should just not write an article.
