Too High A Price for Building

Last month a construction worker fell 42 stories in New York City. Reforms are being put into action to protect workers, as well as pedestrians. Workers are now required to have a license to work, where as before anyone could just show up for the job. The city’s Building Department also wants to start requiring safety managers on site. Such permits add onto expensive costs on construction sites but in the end is well worth the safety of everyone. I thought the author wrote this article very well, getting right to the point and being very clear about what needs to be done in order to enact safety measures. There are a few references to councils and departments, making the author seem credible. I had no idea about how easy just anyone could walk onto a job and put someone’s life at risk. I think this article brought up a very good point that safety needs to be addressed.

I think they needed to go to more extreme measures. This will also help with a lot of the illegal immigrant workers. They are trying to show up for work and are getting hurt, and if they get hurt on your property, you are responsible. An accident like this happened to my family during Hurrican Katrina, but I'm sure that if this plan had been put into action sooner, we wouldn't have had such a headache on our hands. This is definitely an issure that needs to be addressed.

That article blew my mind! I had no idea that someone could just walk on to a job site and begin doing dangerous work. There should be training involved before they are allowed to attempt these tasks, and measures should be taken for their safety, no matter the cost.

I think it would be a good idea to do all of the things that the author listed in order to improve the safety of the workers. However, no matter what is done when somone is working 42 stories in the air there is always a chance that somthing bad will happen.
