Ethanol could be the answer to ending the country’s dependence on foreign oil, but many are having concerns. While it could reduce the harmful gasoline emissions, it could possibly increase dangerous greenhouse gasses if not properly produced. For ethanol to replace the gasoline we now use, it must reach at least 20 percent reductions of greenhouse gasses. Science magazine said that the Environmental Protection Agency, who is in charge of calculating all emissions, has ignored the emissions from the plants and land that it’s coming from. This could lead to a major discrepancy and greater problems down the road.
This was a very informative argument. The author had a good knowledge of what he was talking about and I can see he did his research. I had no idea the United States was thinking about replacing our gasoline with ethanol, but if it helps the environment, I’m all for it!

I think it is good that this author is pointing out just how to use biofuels. Everyone is always saying we need to stop using gasoline but just how? This article seemed credible.
It's a great idea to make ethanol the source of energy instead of gasoline. But if enthanol isn't made the right way. It could lead to major waste problems down the road, but if we can control it, let's do it.
Some serious research needs to be done in the fields of alternative fuels. In reality, ethanol as it exists now can never be used as a primary or even a secondary power source. Its expensive to make, it makes too much pollution while being made, and its octane level is simply too low to make it economical for automotive use. As of right now, diesel fuels are the most promising economical solution to our problems, but it continues to be overlooked as another "polluting form of gasoline." Really, I'd go ahead and say this author didn't do his homework before writing the article.
I think that this article is based off of a good idea, but is not necessarily an exact plan. I feel that their is a lot of research that needs to be doine to find out which biofuel is the best both econmoically and environmentally.
