Organizing Organ Donation

This article discussed the new plan Britain's prime minister proposed to fix the growing problem of people dying due to lack of organs (about 1,000 Britons a year). Currently to donate your organs, you must opt into the system by declaring yourself an organ donor. This new plan suggests that everyone would automatically be an organ donor; however, if you do not wish to be one you have the choice to opt out of the system. The author describes how Spain, which has the greatest number of organ donors per person, uses this system. This plan has been suggested for the United States and is currently a topic of discussion among legislators. The author presented the information very clearly and gave substantial evidence to support the claims. I would have liked to see a little bit more information about this system as it pertains to the United States. Overall, though, the opt out system organ donation article was very well researched and very interesting!

I think the idea of this article is very interesting. The organ donation plan that they are going to set up seems like a really good idea. I don't understand why people would want to opt out of the system. If your organs are or were in good working condition, I can't see a problem in wanting to help people who need it. I haven't had anything like this happen to me, but I've heard about people waiting years for an organ they really need. I think that's horrible and this plan might bring real change to some people in need. I would also like to see the United States be more involved with this plan.

I read the same article and I thought it was very well researched. This is an interesting idea and I can't wait to see how the public reacts to this. The fact that they HAVE to be organ donors might end up starting a huge conflict.

I think this article is very intresting. I found it intresting that so many people die a year becuase they can not get the organs they need. I think if people were better informed about what donating organs entails and everthing about it more people would become a lot more open to the idea. In high school I heard a presentation an organization to promote becoming an organ donor and it changed my view. I think if everyone is forced to donate their organs if possible it will cause a lot of problems, but at least lives will be saved.

I think that the new system would be a GREAT idea. I believe that the reason a lot of people don't donate is because they just don't ever sign up to do so. The only place I think things would get sticky would be when it came to children. I think that they would probably have to put an age on the ability to declare yourself a donor or not. Otherwise, we might have some very angry mothers on our hands. I wonder why America hasn't used this system yet.

I think if you don't donate your organs you are a horrible person. You would want someone to give you their organs if you needed one. What are you going to do with your organs when your dead? Is it that much of loss to you that you can't give one of your kidneys when you are gone? You don't need them both when you are here on earth. I'm not sure about every religion out there, but that would be the only arguement for keeping your organs in the afterlife.
