Linking ticket fee, Miles unjustified
The Advocate, Jan. 28, page 4B

This article was written in response to a recent stab taken at the raise given to Coach Les Miles. After last seasons spectacular end Les was given a substantial raise due to his endless efforts at reaching a national championship. On the otherhand ticket sales for next season will have a minor increase in price. Some tiger fans are complaining that we shouldnt have to pay more for tickets because of Les' raise. They do not believe that we should have to subsequently pay for our coaches raise. The author of this article however totally disagrees with these negative fans. He feels that the tiget prices going up does not directly correlate with Coach Les Miles raise. He remains a huge fan of our coach and supports the University's agreement to give him a raise. Ithink that this article is informative but at the same time isnt very factual. Athough i have no problem with a raise in ticket prices i do agree that it is the effect of a raise in Coach Miles' salary. The article is very small but packs a punch directed at all the cheap, negative lsu fans who do not totally support our team.

This article is very opinionated without stating any facts. It doesn't seem like the author tried to persuade anyone to think any differently. He just wanted to give people his opinion.
I agree that this article is written mainly to give an opinion. There could be other reasons that the ticket prices must keep going up; since the demand is increasing and supply remains the same the prices will inevitably go up. I did not know about Les Miles' raise, but if our prices must increase a little bit to see a GREAT football game that is fine with me.
I also agree that this was completely nothing but opinion. What exactly what he trying to accomplish by just saying what his personal viewpoints are. If Les Miles did a great job, he indeed deserves a raise. We are National Champions after all, right?
Don't all prices go up when the consumers want something. I don't like that the prices are going up, but I see why that is. Everyone has been outside of Tiger Stadium and seen how many people are outside. There is more demand for these tickets, so why not raise prices. And when prices go up the studium will get more which will attract more people and better yet more players which will bring more championships. So let's keep the trend, and everytime the Nationial Championship is in New Orleans LSU wins it.
Yes, it is simple economics. An increase in demand is followed by an increase in price. I don't mind paying more even if the money does go towards his salary. He keeps the games interesting.
Basically, these fine people that are so against paying the price should look into ordering the game pay per view. The rest of us 92,000 sane people will be enjoying it in the comfort of tiger stadium. P.s. they should also consider pulling out their encon. book for a little refresher.
