No More Dining in the Dark

This article is about the federal court’s effort to get restaurants to put the amount of calories in each item next to it on the menu. Many of the fast food chains, such as Taco Bell, McDonalds, and Burger King, are not complying voluntarily. They say that their nutritional information is on the website and sometimes on the placemats, but you can’t really get to that before you order your meal, and by then it’s too late. The author uses a good attention-grabbing statistic that New Yorkers have gained 10 million pounds over the last two years and most of the weight that was gained was from people who ate more fast food. The District Court judge of Manhattan thinks that having the calorie count readily available might help cut down the obesity rate and make people more conscious of what they’re eating.
This was a very interesting article. It reminded me a lot of the documentary, Super Size Me. It had covered a lot of the same issues with the fast food restaurants being so unhealthy and those restaurants not doing anything about it. The author had done a lot of research and had some very interesting facts about the topic, which made it believable and easy to read.

I don't think that fast food chains are to blame. If you're eating fast food and becoming overweight, it is your fault. Everyone knows that fast food is not healthy for you, so just stay away from it. Yeah it would be nice to know it, but it is your fault for not going run off the fast food after you eat it.

People should take more responsiblity for their food and exercise choices; however, the consumer needs to be fully informed. If ordinary food must place the calorie count on their foods, fast food restuarants should too. This article also provides good statistics backing up the growing obesity problem. The fact about the New York population gaining 10 million pounds is a very interesting fact that makes the reader want to keep reading to find out more interesting things.

Everyone knows how bad fast food is for you before they eat it, and they still eat it. I know it's bad for me, so I don't need a piece of paper to make me feel guilty for eating it. Many people don't even know what the nutrition facts mean. It is a waste of paper.

I think that this is a good idea. While some people will eat fast food no matter how many calories it is, there are some people who are concerned about there health. It seems like the author of this aritlce did good research.

This was a very well thoughtout opinion and the author addressed it in a very credible and informative way. The infromation was reliable and showed plenty of reasons why Fast Food companies should possibly put calorie counting labels on its producs. However in my opinion this will not stop the nations epidemic of obesity. We have for centuries now eaten what we want to eat and we won't stop just because of a label on our food. Its going to take a lot more than a calorie label to stop America from eating fast food.
