This article is about how us the buyers could be buying counterfeit merchandise and not even know it. Your everyday batteries, food, or even medicines could be off the black market. Many agencies such as Drug Administration needs more money to regulate this counterfeit problem. One example is the story of when bad pet food was sold and hundreds of animals were harmed. The author then goes on to tell you ways that you could spot a counterfeit by looking at the products price, place, and packaging. Some electronic companies try to put a seal on there products to tell if they are genuine. Some people in congress want harsher penalties on counterfeit goods. In the end the Consumer Product Safety Commission needs more money to regulate this problem .
I thought the author did a good job by explaining the situation and he gave some ways to help the buyer. He also used percentages and government names that made it look like he knew what he was talking about. This article made me more aware to look for what could be a counterfeit product.

Wow....I've never heard anything like that before. Then again Mom always says never to judge a book by its cover. I guess we always have to be careful of what we are buying. Honestly, I would have never thought to make money off of counterfeit groceries. I thought that was something the bad guys in the movies did with money. I guess when there's a will there's a way.
I found this really interesting as I never really think into what I might be buying. Tis article has definitely made me think twice about the genuinity of products.
This is really interesting. I've always thought that we were a very trusting nation. How much do we eat out at a restaurant or fast food? We really don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Someone could go to work angry one day and take it out on my food. And with all the crazy people out there someone trying to get money quick would try to pull something like this.
I thought this was a pretty interesting article. I'm always a little nervous when I go to a kind of trashy fast food place off the side of the road, because there is nothing else around. I don't feel like there is a real solution for the food problem though, it mostly lies with trust since you can't see the kitchen in certain restaurants.
This is the most interesting article I have read so far. I really enjoy the ones that make you learn something new that is relevant today. You did a good job presenting the article and the way it was written. I like that it has somewhat of a solution, also.
This article brings up a good point. I guess you really can't know exactly what you're buying unless you go to the factory and watch them make and package you're product, but that's a little outrageous. I think the authorities should take more action in the control of the authenticiy of the products. I find that things like this are getting out of control; Can't we trust anyone anymore?
This also makes me think about dieters and the products they buy. They buy things that are "low fat" and "low carb", but how much can they really trust the nutrition labels? This will definitely make me more aware of my purchases from now on!
